Basketball in science fiction

On the day of the NCAA championship game,  here are some examples of basketball in science fiction:

  1. "Space Jam" (1996) - This classic film stars basketball legend Michael Jordan, who teams up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes to play a high-stakes basketball game against a group of aliens who have stolen the skills of several NBA players.

  2. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (Season 2, Episode 21 - "Peak Performance") - In this episode, the crew of the Enterprise participate in a game of "strategic" basketball against a group of aliens. The game involves holographic opponents and various obstacles that make it much more difficult than a typical game of basketball.

  3. "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card - Although not specifically about basketball, this novel features a game called "Buggers and Astronauts" which is essentially a mix of basketball and laser tag played in zero-gravity.

  4. "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline - In this book, the main character Wade Watts participates in a virtual reality basketball game called "Zero-G Ball" where players can jump incredibly high and perform acrobatic feats that are impossible in the real world.

  5. "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002) - Although it's only a brief scene, there is a moment in this film where Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala play a game of basketball using anti-gravity technology.
